Hacking is Real - Here's How to Stay Safe Online

  • Use HTTPS websites only Always check that the site starts with https:// before entering personal details. The “s” means secure.

  • Don’t click random links in emails or texts Hackers love sending fake links. If you’re not sure who sent it, don’t click.

  • Avoid downloading unnecessary files Many viruses hide inside free downloads. If you don’t trust the source, skip it.

  • Update your phone and computer regularly Software updates fix security holes. Don’t delay them.

  • Use strong passwords Mix letters, numbers, and symbols. Don’t use “12345” or your birthday.

  • Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) Add an extra layer of security for your email, bank apps, and social media.

  • Don’t share personal info carelessly Be careful with posting your phone number, home address, or bank details online.

  • Log out on shared devices If you use a cybercafé or friend’s laptop, always log out after use.

  • Watch out for fake giveaways and job offers If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

  • Secure your Wi-Fi Use a password for your home Wi-Fi. Don’t connect to open public Wi-Fi for banking or sensitive work.
