Life is short. One day, we will all return to our Lord, and other generations will live on this same earth after us. Let us therefore live in a way that leaves behind a good legacy — not necessarily one where our names are remembered, but one where others can live better because we acted rightly and spoke the truth. What are we truly here for? Is money the purpose of life? In Tasawwuf, it is said that anything that cannot stand the light of Truth is but an illusion. And what is this light of Truth? It is eternal, unchanging, and destroys all falsehood — for Allah says: “And say: The truth has come, and falsehood has perished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to perish.” (Qur’an 17:81) The human ego deceives man. It makes him think that his little achievements matter — that his wealth, fame, or influence can change the world. But how much of the world does man even see? And how much of it does he not know? The influence of man is nothing but perception. His greatest impact is like writing on water — soon erased by the waves of time. Reflect deeply: the world is vast, and it is not in our control. This should not make us irresponsible, but humble. For nothing happens except by the permission of the Almighty. And when we do achieve anything good, we must not claim the credit, for the wise know that all credit belongs to Allah alone. The Almighty reminds us in the Qur’an that: “This life is nothing but a test — to see which of you is best in deeds.” (Qur’an 67:2) So if we must compete, let it be in good deeds — not in vanity. Many among us have lost our way. We abuse the intellect Allah has given us, degrade ourselves below animals, and chase illusions of wealth and fame. We forget that death will erase everything, and that even the wealth we store for our children may not benefit them. Let us therefore reflect, repent, and realign ourselves with the way of the Almighty. May Allah forgive us, guide us, and keep our hearts firm upon the truth. Āmīn.
