TETFund to Disburse N700bn to Universities.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the release of over N700 billion to tertiary institutions across the country through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the year 2025. Under this initiative, each university is expected to receive N2.8 billion.

The announcement was made by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, during the 2025 Strategic Planning Meeting with heads of tertiary institutions held in Abuja on Thursday.

Echono detailed the fund allocation structure, noting that 91.08% of the total amount would be disbursed directly. This includes 48.90% for annual direct disbursements and 42.18% for special direct disbursements. An additional 8.72% has been reserved for specific designated projects, while 0.20% will go to a stabilisation fund.

“Following this approval, universities will receive N2.8 billion, polytechnics N1.9 billion, and colleges of education N2.1 billion under the annual direct disbursement,” Echono stated.

He also highlighted that the scope of intervention activities has been significantly broadened in alignment with the national priorities set out in the Education Sector Road Map, driven by President Tinubu’s administration and led by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
