African integrated digital payments and commerce platform, Interswitch, has donated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment valued at over N45 million to Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos.

The donation was made during a courtesy visit by the Interswitch team to the Rector of the college, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul.

The donated items include Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches, and servers — all aimed at enhancing digital learning and technological capacity within the institution.

While presenting the equipment to the management of Yabatech, Mr. Femi Atere, Sales Manager at Interswitch, stated that the donation was part of the company's commitment to supporting the development of an academy that will equip students with relevant ICT skills. He also pledged continued support in terms of technology integration, digital advisory services, and other strategic collaborations.

The initiative was made possible through the facilitation of Cisco, a long-standing industry partner of the college. Speaking at the event, Mr. Imoh Akpan, Program Manager at Cisco Networking Academy, highlighted that the equipment would significantly boost both the theoretical and practical learning experience of students.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the college, the Rector expressed gratitude to Interswitch and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to human capital development. He noted that the donation aligns with Yabatech’s goal of producing globally competitive graduates and called for an expansion of the existing partnership.

Also speaking, Dr. Moshood Ajala, Director of the Centre for Linkages, Partnerships and International Relations, emphasized that the donation forms part of Interswitch’s support for the college as a member of the Cisco Academy network.
