1 9ja_updates • Posted by u/mutty 7 months ago Ogun government urges women to equip themselves for leadership roles Women aspiring to leadership positions in the country have been urged to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge, exposure, and educational training to excel in their roles and effectively compete with their male counterparts. The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Mrs Noimot Salako -Oyedele made the call in Abeokuta while delivering a keynote address at the celebration of this year's International Women's day organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Speaking on the theme "Collectively, We Can Accelerate Action," Mrs Salako-Oyedele said that the theme underscores the power of support and collaboration for the upliftment of women in the country. Also, the Wife of Ogun State Governor Mrs Bamidele Abiodun said there was need to invest in the next generation of female leaders, and emphasized the importance of empowering young girls through training and education. In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye appealed for increased support for women's empowerment initiatives, emphasizing that empowering women remained essential for building a more stable, prosperous, and inclusive society. The Commissioner added that the State government had established three additional Sexual Assault Referral Centres at llaro, ljebu-Ode, and Abeokuta as part of the present administration's commitment to eradicating Gender Based Violence, and to provide lifesaving support and care survivors of GBV.
