Kano threatens to punish school not closed for Ramadan

The Kano State Government has directed all private and public schools in the state to adhere strictly to the 2024/25 school calendar issued by the Ministry of Education.

“All primary and post-primary schools in Kano State must close on Friday, February 28, 2025, and reopen on Sunday, April 6, 2025,” said the Director of Special Duties, Mustapha Badawi Yahya, in a statement on Thursday.

Campus 360 reported that reactions has continued to trial the decision of the northern states of Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, and Kebbi which ordered schools to close throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The Christian Association of Nigeria opposed the development, lamenting that schoolchildren would be deprived of educational opportunities during the period.
