14 Scholarships • Posted by u/queeneth 16 days ago Fully funded scholarship opportunity in USA I am excited to share that Augusta University (my school) is currently accepting applications for several fully funded PhD programs; and the application fee is automatically waived! 📅 Application Deadline: December 1, 2025 The Biomed program which is an umbrella program that comprises of nine departments is highly competitive but here are things you can do to boost your chances. 1. You might need a GRE if you do not have strong research experience; you must not be a first author publisher but you must have relevant RESEARCH experience. Note: GRE is not a requirement for admission I only said you can boost your chances with it if you do not have strong research experience. I didn’t write GRE because I had relevant research experience. But two Nigerians in the same program with me wrote it. 2. You need your transcript to be evaluated by WES! My two transcripts (BSc from FUTO) and MSc (from Bangor University UK) were evaluated. This is a rigid requirement. Non-negotiable! Plan to evaluate your transcripts or forget about applying to AU. 3. You need good recommendation letters. Listen, this is very important. Make sure your recommenders can endorse your academic performance and other skills relevant for graduate school. Don’t use a generic recommendation letter. It won’t work. There are a few things I would like to add. Each year there is a quota of African students admitted in AU. I don’t know the quota but we were only 3 Nigerians admitted last year, and 1 Ghanaian. The previous year, there were 4 Nigerians and 7 Ghanaians. I figured there could be a ratio between us and Ghanaians. I don’t know how next year would be but it seems it might lean towards Ghanaians. Not sure. But the goal is to present a strong application package to beat the competition; regardless of what the quota would be. You do not need to email any professor before you apply. I didn’t email any professor during my time but I encourage you to do so; especially if you are applying from Africa. These are the nine departments under the big umbrella program of Biomedical Sciences: ✅Biochemistry and Cancer Biology ✅Cellular Biology and Anatomy ✅Genomic Medicine ✅Molecular Oncology and Immunology ✅Neuroscience ✅Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology ✅Pharmacology ✅Physiology ✅Vascular Biology This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in cutting-edge biomedical research and advanced scientific training in the U.S. Please, prepare your application and apply. Goodluck.
