Retired Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has regained his freedom after spending 56 days in c@ptivity.

Tsiga was k+dnapped on February 5, 2025, in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, along with nine others.

Despite his family paying a ransom, he remained in captivity for several more weeks before his eventual release.

Reports on the ransom amount vary, with some sources claiming N60 million was paid, while Daily Trust reports that the actual sum was three times higher. A family member revealed that after the ransom payment, the K+dnappers went silent for a week before allowing Tsiga to speak with his relatives. Though the abductors later demanded additional money, no further payments were made.

Tsiga was eventually released and is said to be in good health. Sources indicate he is being moved to Abuja from Zamfara State. A senior military official confirmed his release, while his family expressed relief over his safe return.
