Dangote Refinery Assures Sufficient Fuel Supply for Nigerians.

The President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has announced that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery currently holds over 500 million litres of petrol in its reservoir.

Speaking during a tour of the $20 billion Lekki-based facility with Zambia’s Minister for Energy, Makozo Chikote, on Saturday, Dangote confirmed that the refinery is now producing sufficient fuel to meet both local demand and export needs.

The Zambian minister visited the refinery in Lekki, Lagos State, seeking collaboration to address his country’s energy security challenges.

During the tour, Dangote revealed that the refinery’s tank farm contains stock worth N600 billion. He further stated that the plant is set to reach its full production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day next month, emphasizing that Nigeria consumes less than 50 per cent of its refined products.

“We have more than half a billion litres of petrol in stock, valued at over N600 billion. The refinery is capable of meeting 100 per cent of Nigeria’s fuel demand, producing sufficient gasoline, diesel, and kerosene,” he said.

He also disclosed that efforts are underway to secure adequate crude oil supply to support the refinery’s production ramp-up.

“We are in the process of increasing production and expect to reach full capacity by next month. However, securing a steady crude supply remains a key focus,” Dangote added.
